Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSKUS) can replace many of the antiquated bedside clinical tests that have poor sensitivity and specificity leading to inaccurate conclusions about the patient’s condition. Accurate diagnosis is paramount to specifically and effectively treating common MSK conditions such as partial tears and tendinopathies. MSKUS allows the clinician and the patient to view real-time anatomy and determine the condition of the soft tissue resulting in an informed plan of care. The satisfaction levels of both patients and referral sources will skyrocket as will treatment outcomes!
Becoming a Certified Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Clinician (Cert-MSUC) through the Integrative Dry Needling Institute requires a total of 6 days (54 hours) of supervised in-person training in the clinical application of MSKUS.
It is broken down into 3 easy steps of taking the Upper and Lower course (in any order) followed by the competency course.
Complete the In-Person Musculoskeletal Ultrasound course for the Upper Extremity (any order).
Complete the In-Person Musculoskeletal Ultrasound course for the Lower Extremity (any order).
Written Examination: As part of the Certification, clinicians are required to complete an online 40 question multiple-choice examination (80% or better) that is based on the information learned in the live seminars and on-line videos.
Competency assessment: The clinician is provided a clinical case study with specific images being requested. The clinician is required to produce 5 professional grade US images with accurate labeling that accurately depict the specific tissues. The course instructor will evaluate and grade each image based on a 50-point scale to assure the image quality meets the strict criteria outlined in the Practical Assessment Scoring document.
Upon successful completion of the 54-hour course curriculum, written and practical assessments, participants will be awarded a certification from the Integrative Dry Needling Institute signifying they have met all of the requirements and are considered a Certified Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Clinician (Cert-MSUC)
