How do you avoid the area associated with a lumbar spinal cord simulator for IDN?

First of all, you would like to ensure that the spinal cord stimulator is turned off when dry needling.

Second, you’re going to avoid needling in the area of the battery pack and lead wires. Similar to avoiding the area of other implantable devices.

You may consider needling homeostatic points and symptomatic points distal to the area of the device.

You may consider cutaneous needling at the spinal levels of leads to avoid contact and disruption of the lead wires.

Lastly, consider taking the chronic pain course to address the patients pain from another neuro inflammatory perspective.
