I was asked to provide dry needling services for local group of adult athletes as a cash-based system. Other than professional liability insurance, is there any other professional or legal guidelines to consider?

I am located in Ohio where I have direct access per the state board but I have not been able to determine if I would need anything else to cover myself.

Hi Matthew,

I am not an attorney so I provide this as informational only not advice 🙂

We are in OH and did the services for years in various locations.  Since we are direct access and you are a licensed PT and trained in DN you can provide services to the public directly.  You need liability insurance of course that covers what you will be providing so I would check with them.  I would also check with you employer to make sure there are not issues with your employment agreement or any of their insurance contracts that you are potentially a named member - less likely an issue but a consideration.  If you plan to make this an ongoing business I would consult with your attorney to be sure you set things up appropriately.

Hope the helps
