Has anyone had any success with dry needling to relieve diabetic peripheral neuropathy or phantom limb pain? If so, what areas were needled, and did you have any specific followup exercises you found success with? I have a diabetic patient I am seeing for his L BKA, but he still has neuropathy pain in his R LE and has developed phantom pain in his L toes. Thanks!

Cassie,

I have not had the opportunity to treat anyone with phantom limb pain. I can tell you I have talked to several people in courses who have had success needling the involved nerve distributions proximally.

Neuropathy has been hit and miss for me. I think it has a lot to do with the health of the nerve. Less involved cases you will have success, how long they achieve relief is the bigger question.
