Hello-
I received a prescription for PT with request for Dry Needling for a lung cancer patient, which had metastases to the thoracolumbar spine. She ended up having a 3 level fusion after cancer removal and is still doing chemo treatments for the lung cancer.  The request is for dry needling to the lumbar spine.
Another provider has performed DN on her. But now she is on my schedule. I don’t feel comfortable doing this. Is there new research for this that I am not aware? It seems counterintuitive to put needles that will increase blood flow near a recently prior tumor site!
