Currently treating a patient for vertigo and tinnitus. Pt has lifelong history of hearing loss and has Bilateral cochlear implants. He noted at last session he was wondering about DNing for the tinnitus. Thoughts on whether this could be impactful? If so, any considerations/contraindications for needling patient with cochlear implants?

Hi Alexis!

How long has the tinnitus been present? Is it related to his physiologic changes in his ears?

I have had good success needling the SCM and upper cervical spine in patient's with cervicogenic dizziness/concussions and tinnitus.

I'd focus on homeostatics first such as the greater auricular and greater occipital homeostatic points.  Then consider more needling of the masseter/SCM.

You certainly want to avoid the device/wires.
