David Nissenbaum MPT, MA, LAT, OCS, PES Academic Background and Credentials: David received his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1994. He obtained his Masters in Sports Administration from the University of Northern Colorado in 1995. He then returned to Madison to obtain a Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999. David is board certified in Orthopedics by the APTA. David was director of outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine clinic before opening PRO Physical Therapy in 2016. Treatment Philosophy: David uses a dynamic and functional approach to treatment. David treats in a very posture specific and dynamic manner. His focus in on neuromuscular control and focuses on interaction between body parts. David has noted background in biomechanical and functional assessment and treatment and looks for the “cause” of the problem. David is known for using “cutting edge treatment” in his rehabilitation strategies. David’s expertise is in evaluation and treatment of soft tissue injuries and dysfunction. David’s professional interests include sports medicine, manual therapy, posture, golf related injuries, dance related injuries, prevention of injuries and functional rehabilitation. Expertise: David is a manual therapy Physical Therapist. David has extensive experience in soft tissue injuries and soft tissue dysfunction. David is trained in Functional dry needling therapy, which is a treatment option that, when coupled with traditional physical therapy methods have yielded great success. This therapy is conducted with a small, sterile needle that is inserted into an active muscle trigger point in order to elicit a “twitch response” whereby the muscle tightness, pain and dysfunction are relieved. David has experience working with high school, collegiate, Olympic, and professional athletes. He is trained in working with athletes of every level in rehabilitation, injury prevention, and performance enhancement. Expertise: David is an active member of several professional organizations including APTA, NATA, WPTA, WATA, AAOMPT. David has taken extensive continuing education courses to help his patients succeed. David is trained in the ASTYM technique as well as being the only person in Dane County who is Level 3 trained in Functional Dry Needling. P Personally: David lives in Middleton with his wife Jill (also a Physical Therapist) and two daughters. He plays basketball and golf and very involved in his children’s sporting activities.
