David is a practicing physical therapist from the Ohio Valley region, where he is the co-owner of PHYT For Function Boardman, a cash-based clinic located outside of Youngstown, OH, as well as a business collaborator with the Youngstown Wellness Lab, a recovery/wellness center based around the use of clinical modalities for client longevity and overall health.
David graduated from the University of Akron in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and then earned his doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Youngstown State University in 2016. David practiced for 7 years in outpatient physical therapy clinics in the Youngstown area before transitioning to the cash-based model in 2023, through an opportunity presented by the late Dr. Nick Sanders, with PHYT For Function. David has years of clinical experience treating variety of conditions ranging from general orthopedics, spinal impairments, chronic headaches, TMJ dysfunction, vestibular dysfunction, and sport-related injuries. He also has experience working with several high-level competitive athletes for endurance training, bodybuilding, powerlifting, and gymnastics to help them remain healthy for competition and injury free during their training periods.
To supplement his doctoral education, David took his first course with the Integrative Dry Needling Institute in 2018 and practiced with that knowledge for several years, before completing his advanced certification in 2023. Through this needling education, as well as the integration of the Neuro Release Techniques taught within in the IDN model, he focuses on using pain science, as well as the integration of patient education, exercise, needling, and manual therapy interventions away from the rigid biomechanical model and more towards a neuromechanical model. David recognized the importance of looking at the client and the body systems through a neurological lens and how the concepts taught through the Integrative Dry Needling Institute provide physical therapists with a better framework to treat their patients effectively.
David currently lives in Youngstown, OH and enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, working out, riding his bike, writing and playing music as a drummer in his band, as well as exploring his creative side by writing and running games of Dungeons and Dragons.
“IDN is such an invaluable clinical tool because of the versatility and ease which it integrates into manual therapy treatments”
