      Hi!

Has anyone has any experience or recommendation on using dry needling for contractures related to Scleroderma?

I have not reviewed research related to the effectiveness of DN with Scleroderma- This does not mean it does not exist I just I have no experience in this application. Because of the various types and different presentations specific recommendation is difficult. I would say that there is no contra-indication to controlling muscle guarding and helping to maintain ROM. I do not believe the needling would have an effect on the connective tissue per se so the effect would be indirect in pain control, reduction of inflammation if needling systemically, and possible ROM assistance. Again, no studies have validated its use.
