Yes IDN can be used for postherpetic pain. The thoracic paravertebrals would be a good place to start with her segmentally and you could include HA T6 and T7. Although they probably have a specified area of symptoms which the paravertebral needling may help with, I would recommend assessing the 24 HA of the body and determine if those are passively sensitized and treat accordingly for the systemic effect with the chronicity of her condition.
