Lori P. Alexander

Dr. Lori Alexander, MSPT, DPT, founder of The Physical Therapy Zone, began her career as a physical therapist working for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Lori had moved to Rochester after graduating from Boston University’s Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences in 1996. During Lori’s five years working for the Mayo Clinic, she specialized in inpatient and outpatient orthopedics, pediatrics and vestibular rehabilitation. In 2001, Lori and her husband moved to his home town of Alexandria, Virginia. Since settling in Alexandria, Lori worked for seven years at the Virginia Hospital Center-Arlington, specializing in orthopedics. In 2008, Lori started her own home health physical therapy private practice to provide patients with physical therapy in the comfort of their homes. During this time, she heard that many outpatient clinics were now limiting the time their therapists spent working directly with patients, with some clinics allowing a mere 10 minutes of one-on-one care during an appointment. Lori wanted to change that so she opened her own outpatient physical therapy private practice to provide patients with more personalized care.

In 2011, Lori opened The Physical Therapy Zone in Alexandria. Located in the heart of historic Old Town, Lori wanted her clinic to be convenient to where Northern Virginians live, play, and work. But Lori also wanted her clinic to have the same, patient-first focus as her home healthcare practice. At The Physical Therapy Zone, Lori has put this vision into action.
